Heat, humidity and the UV index in Honduras

Heat, humidity and the UV index in Honduras

On the coast and in the valleys of Honduras — especially in San Pedro Sula and the Sula valley — it is hot and very humid almost all year, which pushes up the feels-like temperature. Tegucigalpa, in the mountains, is cooler.

How to protect yourself from the heat

  • Drink water throughout the day, even if you are not thirsty.
  • Avoid the sun and exertion between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Keep an eye on children and older adults.

UV index

Being in the tropics, the UV index is high almost all year. Use sunscreen, a hat and UV-filter sunglasses, and check the day's UV index, especially at the beach.
