Hurricane season in Mexico: Pacific and Atlantic
Mexico is one of the few countries struck by hurricanes on two oceans: the Pacific (Baja California, Jalisco, Guerrero, Oaxaca) and the Atlantic — Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean — (Veracruz, Tamaulipas, Quintana Roo, Yucatán).
When the season runs
In the Pacific it runs 15 May to 30 November; in the Atlantic, 1 June to 30 November. The peak on both sides is usually between August and October.
Tropical storm or hurricane
Tropical depression below 63 km/h, tropical storm from 63 to 118 km/h, and hurricane from 119 km/h (Saffir-Simpson scale, categories 1 to 5).
