Bolivia's rainy season runs from November to March. Its impact varies by region: hailstorms and flash floods in the highlands, thunderstorms and flooding in the lowlands.

Altiplano and valleys

In La Paz, heavy summer rain brings hailstorms and flash floods that rush down the hillsides. Avoid gullies and low-lying areas during storms.

Eastern lowlands

In Santa Cruz and Beni, prolonged rain overflows rivers and floods roads. In El Niño or La Niña years the pattern can become more extreme.
