Heat waves in Argentina: symptoms, prevention and what to do
In summer, especially between December and February, Argentina experiences heat waves with several consecutive days of very high temperatures, particularly in the centre, the litoral and the north.
Signs of heatstroke
Dizziness, headache, hot and dry skin, nausea or confusion. It is an emergency: call 107 (SAME) or 911, move the person into the shade and cool them with water.
How to protect yourself
- Drink water throughout the day, even if you are not thirsty.
- Avoid the sun and exertion between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- Never leave children or pets inside a car.
- Keep an eye on babies, pregnant women and older adults.
Check the temperature, the feels-like value and the UV index before going out.
