Data sources
Here we document transparently where the weather data comes from, how often it is updated and what limits it has in practice.
Current weather and forecast
For the current weather, the hourly trend and the multi-day forecasts we use the Open-Meteo interfaces (ECMWF, ICON and GFS models). The data is converted into a unified format for the various types of pages.
Update frequency
The data is updated at short intervals and is also cached on the server side so that the locality pages load fast and the external interfaces are not overloaded unnecessarily.
Alerts and other modules
Alerts only become visible where there is an active and verified data flow. Other modules such as air quality, pollen or snow are only rolled out publicly when the source and the mapping are stable.
Limits of the data
Weather data always carries uncertainty. For safety-critical decisions it is advisable to also consult the official weather services of each country.
