With its tropical climate, the Dominican Republic has no warm and cold seasons, but periods defined by rain that also vary by region.

When it rains

In the south and the capital, the rainy season runs roughly May to November and overlaps with hurricane season. In the north (Puerto Plata, Samaná), rain is spread more across the year. The dry season is cooler and more pleasant.
